David Brown, who has been Chief Executive Officer at the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) for nine years, is stepping down from the role from 15 July 2016.

According to the Institution’s magazine, The Chemical Engineer, membership has grown by 75% during David’s tenure including significant global growth. The organisation’s Council has praised him for his vision, energy and innovations, such as a Corporate Partners scheme and the appointment of Senior Ambassadors to represent IChemE across the world.

David Brown said: “IChemE is embarking on a further programme of change which will take several years. After nine fulfilling years at the helm, supported by a great team of staff and countless volunteers from among our members, I want to give a new CEO the opportunity to shape and lead that programme and take IChemE through towards it centenary in 2022.”

He added that he will continue to be active on behalf of science and engineering. A search for a successor is underway.
