The National Women in Engineering Day (NWED) campaign has been launched for 2016 by the Women in Engineering Society (WES). Events will take place on 23 June and throughout the week. WES is encouraging individuals and organisations to start planning their activities to mark the occasion and celebrate women in engineering.
The theme of NWED2016 is ‘Raising Profiles’ and as part of this year’s campaign The Daily Telegraph is coordinating a 50 Influential Women in Engineering list, which will be announced in a supplement to the newspaper on 23 June. The aim of the list is to raise the profiles of the incredible women working in engineering and the list will include engineers as well as those who are influential in the engineering sector. More details about the list are available here and nominations are open.
For anyone who has not organised a NWED event before, a resource pack containing ideas, career resources, posters and stickers is available to download from the NWED website at www.nwed.org.uk or packs can be sent by post. Please contact the NWED organisers directly with any questions. They are keen to know about any events that are being planned and ask for details to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. They also encourage supporters to use the campaign hashtag #NWED2016 and to follow activities on the NWED website and on twitter @nwed1919.
