Neural interface leaders awarded 2026 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering

Nine engineers have been awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Prize (QEPrize) for Engineering for their pioneering work on modern neural interface technologies. Graeme Clark, Erwin Hochmair, Ingeborg Hochmair, Blake Wilson, John Donoghue, Alim Louis Benabid, Pierre Pollak, Jocelyne Bloch and Grégoire Courtine were formally announced as the winners by Lord Vallance, Chair of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation, at the official ceremony hosted by BBC Technology Editor Zoe Kleinman at the Science Museum in London on 3 February.

Engineering Council welcomes the Government’s commitment to strengthening public safety

The Engineering Council has welcomed the publication of the Government’s Single Construction Regulator Prospectus and the Fire Engineers Advisory Panel’s authoritative statement, setting out the principles that should underpin future regulation of fire engineering, including the title and role of fire engineer. This follows the Phase 2 report of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, which made a number of important recommendations relating to the engineering profession.
